Behind the Glass

I never thought a part-time job in between classes would have such a lasting impact on my life, but working at Behind the Glass has surprised me in the best way.

After working as a Sales Associate for a year, I learned the ins and outs of customer service. I was taught that every customer should be treated like someone you invited to a dinner party. You want to welcome them with hospitality, help them with anything they need or are looking for, and give them the attention they deserve. I learned that true customer service starts with being human and listening first.

Now, working part-time as a Floor Manager, my eyes have been opened to everything it takes to run a small business behind the scenes. From working in the stockroom and assisting with inventory management to co-managing web orders and ensuring other sales associates stay on task, I’ve gained a new appreciation for all the moving parts that keep a business running. I’ve also quickly realized how much it matters to bring a positive attitude to work. When I’m managing other employees, they often take cues from my energy, so I strive to lead with enthusiasm, preparation, and focus in hopes that they will reflect those same qualities. I’m beyond blessed for this opportunity.
